Desired Skills and Experience
- You’ll work in our SETI Engineering team, utilising AGILE best practice
- You’ll work with or build new database products and tools and improve our existing ones
- You’ll take part in decisions related to how we undertake new projects
- You’ll gather requirements and scope out projects with the rest of the team
- You’ll work closely with our fellow engineers, designers, QA and others
- Design and maintain builds that allow the deployment and management of our database technologies (Postgres)
- Provide tools to effectively monitor, manage, alert on and performance tune our database technologies.
- Provide advice and guidance to all our teams on issues relating to designing and building data solutions for their services.
- Be an active team member and push yourself and others (gently) in the process of making all of us better.
- Support our live service as required outside of standard working hours by participating in 24x7 on-call rota
- Write good wikis to share the knowledge
- Familiarity with an Agile-style working environment.
- Experience decomposing a monolith application and it’s database.
- Planning for exponential growth and capacity.
- Familiarity with Ruby or scripting languages.
- Working knowledge of containers and Infrastructure as Code
- Keen interest in automation, scripting, configuration management and delivering continuous deployment of database solutions
