My client is a well known global video streaming media entertainment company with their headquarters in NYC and presence in LA, Seattle, Europe, Southamerica and PanAsia. They are well known for their original content as well as the movies and shows that they provide to all different audiences. They have grown their DEVOPS Infrastructure engineering organization in NYC and have a team of about 40 engineers/architects/developers on the team supporting a huge video streaming product that is available on all platforms, mobile, tablets, gaming, smart tv etc. (iphone android ipad roku xbox samsung) .

They seek strong site reliability engineers, devops engineers that are focused on automation, reliability and scalability.

job spec:

  • Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack: hardware, software, application and network. Physical hardware and cloud-based environments. YOu should know what happens when someone is in a browser and hits www.linkedin.com to the server and back. be able to explain how that happens in a step by step detailed manner.
  • Automation Automation Automation when possible. Why repeat repetative functions?
  • Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems meeting SLA requirements
  • projects for microsites or the major sites.
  • constantly look to ways to improve systems reliability, scalability through existing and new tools and technologies (this is the fun stuff)

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years of managing web services in an multi-region, multi-provider Internet scale Linux environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, web application security, and experience supporting multi-tier web application architectures - again - when you hit www.stuff.com what exactly happens to get back a page?
  • Ability to design and implement solutions
  • Automation scripting - python preferred
  • Experience using AWS, elasticserach, BOTO, Ansible, Puppet, Logstash, Kibana, MongoDB, Cassandra, Vagrant, Terraform to name a few.
  • Linux Fundamentals
  • Passion for focusing on the simplest, most efficient & reliable solutions
  • Track record of successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
  • Practical knowledge of various aspects of service design, including messaging protocols & behavior, caching strategies and software design practices
  • Play well with others.
