Senior PGD Engineer NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation team responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the utility-scale Solar PV facilities inside the state of Florida. The position will report to a Solar PV Engineer Leader, under the Power Generation Team, and will reside in Arcadia, Florida, with occasional travel to other locations within the state of Florida. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with Engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Position Description This position will require subject matter expertise electrical engineering, power generation, and safe work practices.Duties will include, but not be limited to: Perform daily maintenance, inspection, and testing of solar photovoltaic (PV) equipment, inverters, tracker motors and controllers, meteorological stations, SCADA equipment, switchgear, transformers, breakers, and batteries to ensure maximum power availability. Maintain a robust safety program. Under no direct supervision evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptations, modification, and solving site operational issues. Direct contractor oversight in adherence with standard company practices. Direct responsibility with ensuring reliability engineering tasks are completed including failure analysis, tracking, and root cause analysis. Direct responsibility with developing standards in conjunction with NextEra Energy Technical Services for solar site maintenance protocols to ensure world class performance of the solar PV fleet.. Perform inventory control functions in compliance with SOX requirements. Participate in maintaining the budget for the Solar PV organization, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements, including: purchasing, receiving, paying monthly bills, and accurate short-term and long-term budget forecasting.
