Wire Harness Design Engineer
Toyota Industrial Equipment is an ISO 14001 and 9001-2008 certified forklift manufacturing facility in Columbus, IN. We are current seeking a candidate to join our New Product Development * Design Engineering team.POSITION SUMMARYThis position will be responsible for developing wire harness 3D and 2D design and routing. Position requires extremely technical oriented individual with the dynamic sense of urgency and communication skills to meet a demanding and fast-paced development and evaluation program.RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES: Use CAD to design and develop the vehicle main and sub-harnesses in both Electric and Internal combustion North American material handling current and future products. Use CAD to route the vehicle wire harnesses that affect all forklift electrical systems and components to meet the new vehicle and component requirement of each project. Create 2D part drawings of wire harness for prototype and production stages. Interface with Electrical Component and Frame design engineers to confirm and modify wire designs and connection points to meet both internal and external customer requirements. Work with suppliers and quality assurance group to confirm the designs, tooling, and project lead-times Confirm and support wire harness parts and routing at prototype stage to confirm design and functionality is met. Prepare technical data and documentation related for reporting in meetings and design reviews. Participate in simultaneous engineering meetings and reviews with suppliers and internal departments to review, discuss, and change designs to meet all requirements.Education:Requires BS in Electrical Engineering.Experience/Skills/Special Requirements: At least 3 years of CAD wire harness experience in a product development engineering department or application. Prefer at least 2 years of experience routing wire harnesses in CATIA v5, using the electrical workbench. Prefer at least 3 years in off-road, construction, or material handling application with a focus on wire harness design. Understanding of Internal Combustion and Electric Material Handling products is a plus.
