The INVISTA La Porte, TX site is a growing, world class Intermediates manufacturing facility producing chemicals and polymers for end uses including but not limited to Spandex Fibers, Polyurethane, Pharmaceuticals, and a wide variety of engineering plastics.
It is located on the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 minutes from downtown Houston and near the Johnson Space Center, Galveston, and many other Gulf Coast locations of interest. The area offers an excellent quality of life with universities, major league sports, restaurants, recreation areas, resort beaches and all the attractions of one of the fastest growing population centers in the United States.
INVISTA is currently seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to join our team in La Porte, TX.

The Responsibilities Of This Role Are
- Ensure compliance with standards and regulations associated with Mechanical equipment in the plant;
- Apply knowledge and experience using risk based thinking to cost effectively improve the reliability and predictability of the La Porte, TX plant;
- Development and oversight of the Plant Mechanical Integrity (MI) Inspection Program;
- Utilize reliability and statistical tools and methodologies to analyze data and develop reliability improvements on process and equipment issues (e.g., Reliability Modeling, Root Cause Analysis, Weibull Analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance, RBI Analysis);
- Utilize the site Management of Change (MOC) process to make changes to the equipment and facilities;
- Support the maintenance and repair of plant equipment by providing technical knowledge, specifications, and training;
- Support the design and implementation of capital projects from a mechanical discipline;
- Develop project proposals to address plant needs and opportunities for improvement by working within the project portfolio management process, the project front end design process, and the decision making framework used to evaluate and make decisions.
Required Education, Experience, And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
- 3+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer in support of a manufacturing plant or equivalent;
Preferred Education, Experience And Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer in support of a manufacturing plant or equivalent;
- Experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry;
- Working knowledge of the applicable compliance and engineering standards, such as ASME, ASTM, ASNT, PIP, API, OSHA, EPA, and other RAGAGEP’s;
- Demonstrated results in applying preventive and predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies to improve the reliability and predictability of mechanical equipment;
- Vibration analyst certification – Level 1 or higher;
- Knowledge and application of engineering software for Plant Equipment Design, Fitness for Service evaluation, and Maintenance Support such as: PVElite, AFT Fathom, HTRI, UltraPipe, Emonitor system and data acquisition, and SAP.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to view job sites in a manufacturing plant;
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders;
- Must be able to enter and move about in confined spaces and wear personal protective equipment;
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time;
- Must be able to work periodic workdays in excess of 8 hours.
