Field Service Engineer

We are seeking a talented Field Service Engineer to work in a fast-paced, high technology environment. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing team supporting existing product lines, and developing new technologies. Primary Function: The Field Service Engineer is enabled to take all preventative and corrective actions necessary to ensure a positive customer experience with Astronics AeroSat products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The first duty is to an absolute intolerance of the slightest compromise of aviation safety
- Establishes customer awareness of Astronics AeroSat product support
- Monitors customer satisfaction of installed user base
- Works with distributors to monitor current condition of installed equipment and trends
- Reports to management regarding customer satisfaction and product performance
- Answers questions about the product and performance
- Demonstrates product operations
- Investigates customer reports of technical problems with satellite communications systems or aircraft interface
- Reviews performance reports and documentation to determine nature and scope of problem
- Provides on-site customer support and technical assistance
- Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and effects repair, replacement, or other corrective action to customer’s satisfaction
- Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, and other personnel to expedite repairs
- Assist with tuning and adjustment of equipment to obtain optimum operating performance
- Assists customers in the return of product from the field
- Assists in operation of FAA Part 145 Certified Repair Station
- Acts as the customer advocate for continuous improvement of the entire customer experience
- Eliminates future operational or service difficulties
- Maintains records of performance reports
- Works with engineering to analyze reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes, and recommends modifications for product performance and reliability improvement
- Gathers information on competing products
- Provides recommendations for new product development
- Develops and conducts training for installation and maintenance
- Requires extensive international travel
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Experience:
- Technical Degree in Engineering or equivalent/comparable technology with continued education via company product training and OJT
- Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate desired
- FAA Repairman Certificate a plus
- Aviation Maintenance Technician certified
- 5+ years work experience on related airborne TV and/or communications systems

4+ years work experience on aircraft Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- FAA Aviation Mechanic- License Airframe and General
- FAA Aviation Mechanic- General

FAA Repairman Authorization Equipment and Applications:
- Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) experience
- Spectrum analyzer experience

Applied Instruments Signal Analyzer experience Safety Requirements:
- Must follow all safety requirements of the job as outlined in the safety policy

May be required to handle hazardous waste and follow proper safety procedure for storage and disposal Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and or arms to pull handles and push buttons and reach objects. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
