Evaluate and direct electrical engineering functions for E&C for wind, solar, and other renewable energy projects proposed, in construction, and in operation. Oversee external contract engineering and engineering project management. Provide guidance to Business Development in interconnections, feasibility studies, costs, etc. for proposed projects and assist in filing interconnection applications. Provide guidance to Operations and Maintenance on issues related to new projects turned over to O&M.  Responsibilities

  • Guide and oversee contract engineers in development of new projects. Assist business development in conceptual design of proposed projects, provide budgetary numbers and guidance.
  • Propose, review and correct equipment specifications and standards
  • Review and accept test results
  • Participate in engineering design review with engineering consulting companies, contractors and subcontractors. Review and/or answer Requests for Information. Provide engineering support to Project Management
  • Review and accept submittals from contractors and engineers.
  • Internal engineering design review and validations
  • Coordinate and witness of equipment Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Construction site inspections and meetings
  • Coordinate all engineering requirements with Interconnecting Power Utility(s)

  • Review and approve/accept project testing, commissioning, energization activities, instructions, safety.   Qualifications:  

  • Highly developed verbal and written communications skills with demonstrated technical writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, manage, and interact effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams as well as electrical power utilities, consulting engineers and vendors.
  • Knowledgeable in power systems engineering in distribution, transmission, substations and generation.
  • Understanding of SCADA system design and functionality of components
  • Experienced in overall Electrical Power System engineering
  • Experienced with relay testing, programming, and fault analysis
  • Knowledge of large and small Grid Interconnections
  • Ability to review and validate design drawings
  • Experience in field engineering
  • Experience in medium and high voltage engineering
  • Experience in construction activities
  • engineering support, specification and schedule monitoring, testing and commissioning
  • Ability to coordinate all interface electrical and SCADA design with interconnecting Power Utility
  • Knowledgeable of Grid Interconnection Studies; System Impact, Facilities, Fault, Loss, Relay Coordination, and others
  • Familiarity with NERC/FERC reliability standards, NEC, NESC IEEE and ANSI Engineering Standards
  • BS Electrical Engineering with focus in Power Engineering, MS preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years engineering background with 10 years’ in utility grade electrical power systems engineering
  • Regular driver’s license required
  • 50% domestic travel with some international travel
