Java Engineer - Website Reliability and Performance

What You Will Be Doing * Concentrate on exposing problems as quickly as possible to minimize impacts to users * Provide code and infrastructure guidance to agile feature development teams * Partner with software and systems engineers to implement sound practices that increase site reliability and performance * Build and implement tools for monitoring, automated problem response, and alerting * Ensure code, infrastructure, and platform components are deployed and maintained with stability, scalability, and security * Analyze monitoring gaps and recommend solutions for coverage and alerting * Produce code and participate in code reviews for projects primarily written in Java * Provide technical assistance and problem resolution for assigned systems. Lead resolution of production support problems in accordance with problem management policies and procedures. Coordinate with vendors for problem resolution and change requests. * Provide technical guidance to ensure that installed systems are working effectively and that proposed systems will meet organization’s future needs What You Need for this Position * Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and experience. * 5+ years engineering experience with large-scale applications. * Prefer Linux/Unix-like systems experience * Ability to apply complex principles, theories and concepts of the technical discipline and provide solutions to a wide range of complex tasks, projects and problems * Advanced knowledge and proficiency with systems, processes and development, or technical disciplines in a specific field. * Ability to participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 service requirement. * Experience creating and executing implementation strategies for complex systems.
