POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer position is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience in managing a Mechanical Integrity program and serving as a SME for fixed and rotating equipment in the chemical, refining, or petroleum industries.

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will be an integral member of the Maintenance Engineering Team and is responsible for oversight of in-house contract Inspection group. He/she will have a firm understanding of industry standards associated with fixed and rotating equipment and piping assets and drive improvement in the overall mechanical integrity and reliability efforts at the site level. This position will be required to collaborate with other working teams and demonstrate good judgment in seeking ownership of Fixed and Rotating Equipment Programs and processes as they pertain to PSM Mechanical Integrity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Application and management of the Mechanical Integrity Program;
  • Contribute to design engineering;
  • Designing and tracking of code and non-code repairs;
  • Ownership of the Equipment Maintenance and Inspection data, files, and folders.
  • Specify and implement Fixed and Rotating Equipment Inspection and Maintenance strategies;
  • Perform corrosion studies of the production units and create mitigation plans for high corrosion areas;
  • Champion fixed and rotating equipment improvement initiatives to their sphere of influence.
  • Oversee the work of the Inspection Group and develop strategy to ensures optimal performance
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for fixed and rotating equipment and drive improvement in the overall MI programs.
  • Provide the technical support needed for Maintenance, Operation and Project Departments.
  • Recommend and implement changes in fixed and rotating equipment systems to improve reliability and safety.
  • Oversee fixed and rotating equipment programs and processes; evaluate engineering standards and define mechanical repair work scopes for fixed and rotating equipment assets; providing technical support as needed those repairs as needed, ensuring that TPC and industry standards are met.
  • Lead failure analysis (FMEA and RCA) and educate both Maintenance and Operation personnel upon completion of failure analysis. Develop and assign appropriate corrective actions to prevent failure recurrence.
  • Provide technical support for fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems ensuring proper QA/QC.
  • Complete all required inspections that are needed to maintain compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards in the Port Neches facility.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by upper management with the purpose of improving equipment performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance of MI system by developing and tracking KPI’s for piping and fixed and rotating equipment and reporting performance and progress on MI programs.
  • Maintain critical documentation and flow of information relative to the Maintenance Department’s function, both internal and external to the department. This includes such items as maintenance procedures, technical reports, MOCs (Management of change)
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university or institution
  • 3+ years of experience in either pressure equipment or reliability engineering in the chemical / refining / petroleum industries
  • ASNT (American Society Non-Destructive Testing) and/or AWS (American Welding Society) Certifications and/or related experience preferred.
  • Complex problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills related to Microsoft Office Products and knowledge of computer-managed maintenance systems (Oracle).
  • Field equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable codes and standards is required (ASME Section VIII, API 510 & 570, ANSI, etc.).
