This is a hybrid role of systems and software engineering responsible for site reliability, automation, and making the systems that keep the lights on for the client. We are looking for a talented engineer to help manage our growing infrastructure, ensuring our site stays up, performs well, and refining processes for operating our production systems. You will work closely with the rest of the engineering team, will have authority in designing and implementing the hardware and software systems we use to host, manage, and monitor our production environment.
Responsibilities
- Database Administration (MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etcd, etc.)
- SQL and NoSQL query optimization
- Monitoring of applications and infrastructure with Zabbix and custom tools
- Automation and deployment of Docker infrastructure on Rackspace Cloud Servers
- Basic network administration (load balancing and firewalls)

Developing custom internal tools (either server side or web based) The Person
- Extensive use of git or similar versioning software in a collaborative way
- Demonstrated programming experience in any of the following (starred languages are a plus): PHP, Go, Python*, Ruby, C, or C++
- 3+ years experience in delivering and managing web or cloud-based services
- Ability to operate in high-pressure environment and successfully manage competing priorities.
- Ability to rapidly adapt to a variety of highly sophisticated and disparate software systems
