Site Reliabliity Engineer
LOCATION: Santa Monica, CA TITLE: Site Reliabliity Engineer
TigerText is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join the operation team and ensure that TigerText stays an industry leader and has the highest level of reliability. This person will be supporting a high-volume 24x7 production environment, as well as development and test environments. In this role, the SRE will be maintaining a large number of Linux servers, writing tools to automate both routine and complex tasks, and troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues. The position includes close collaboration with the DevOps team and server engineers to design a scalable and supportable service-oriented architecture. An ideal candidate’s background should include scripting in a dynamic languages (ruby, python, bash, perl, javascript).
Requirements Include
- 5+ years of experience as a Linux administrator in a large production environment.
- Monitoring systems (Sensu, Logstash, Kibana, Graphite, etc)
- Infrastructure as code / cloud / data center automation (Chef, Cloudformation, AWS API)
- A strong desire to automate and consistently improve the technology stack.
- A passion for architecting services that are scalable and highly available.
- Scripting ability in Ruby, Python, Bash, Perl, or Javascript.
- Common Unix network protocols (ssh, tcp, http, snmp, smtp)
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing build scripts to automate tasks that can be automated
- High-performance, open source web technologies (nginx, haproxy)
- Public cloud platforms (Amazon EC2, Rackspace Cloud)
- Open source nosql databases (Redis, Cassandra, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Hadoop)
- Messaging systems (Kafka, ActiveMQ)
- Common data formats (json, ASCII, xml)
- High-availability, high-performance technologies ( CDN, memcache, etc)
- Exposure to erlang and NodeJS is a plus
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent
