We are currently seeking an entry-level Instrumentation/Test Engineer to join our facility located at Stennis Space Center (SSC).
This position will work with more experienced engineers and under supervision in the operations of instrumentation and data recording for rocket engine testing. This position works in concert with related disciplines, contractors, and customers to ensure the successful testing of Aerojet Rocketdyne products.
This assignment requires an individual to assist in the application of instrumentation devices, such as pressure sensors, accelerometers, RTDs, thermocouples, and strain gages. The individual will support the installation, calibration, troubleshooting and hot fire test set up and operation of the following: pressure, strain, vibration, force, speed, proximity, and related measurement systems.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of engineering principles, technical knowledge, and demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices. Success in this position requires sound collaboration skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships based on honest, proactive, and open communication.
80% * Performing instrumentation activities in a fast-paced testing environment to collect engine testing data.
10% * Participate in department administrative activities and improvement initiatives.
10% * Support and promote all AR SSC site processes and requirements including initiatives for preserving the environment, assuring employee and public health and safety and protecting product integrity.
- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related discipline, along with 0-2 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Individual with fundamental knowledge and principles of instrumentation devices and sensors used to measure pressure, strain, vibration, force, speed and proximity is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self starter.
- Candidate must be able to successfully complete the NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) screening.
- Requires U.S. Citizenship. As a Government Contractor, this position requires the employee to have access to premises which are, OR requires the employee to perform duties that are, subject to national security requirements of the United States under government contracts that impose US Citizenship requirements for such positions.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
