• R .Grace is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to work at its Lake Charles facility. This site is one of the largest refining catalyst plants in the world. It represents nearly half of Grace’s catalyst manufacturing capacity and supplies a significant portion of the world’s catalyst market. In addition to U.S. destinations, production is shipped to Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America. In this role you will be work to implement industry best practices for maintenance and repair of both fixed and rotating equipment. The following duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the development/implementation of Grace Reliability Excellence components.
  • Identify, monitor and maintain key performance indicators (KPI’s), and drive data access to the operator/craftsman level.
  • Develop and/or update equipment repair guidelines for Precision Maintenance
  • Expand proactive maintenance program to reduce secondary damage associated with equipment failures
  • Identify equipment design improvement opportunities.
  • Provide support for unit outages to craftsmen, supervision, and planning.
  • Assist with parts selection for equipment repairs.
  • Provide input into spare part inventory management system.
  • Develop equipment repair scopes which maximize mean time between failure
  • Provide routine troubleshooting for rotating equipment.
  • Optimize existing equipment PMs and create PMs for new equipment.
  • Review major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs.
  • Provide independent quality control of in-house and outside contract services
  • Facilitates positive change in the Maintenance organization by pro-actively driving department initiatives
  • Assist in tracking metrics and generating the monthly maintenance report for area of responsibility.
  • Performs RCFA’s to ensure long term maintenance equipment problems are appropriately investigated with solutions implemented.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Computer proficiency with SAP preferred (Retrieve data and generate reports).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills – work with multiple departments to solve problems.
  • Understanding of company and industrial design and repair standards and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment design and proper operation.
  • Knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, etc.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Project and Office and other maintenance scheduling tools.
  • Proactive problem solving approach focused on action.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
