The Chemours Company is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Guardian / Senior Engineer for our Belle Site Performance Chemicals Methylamines Products (MAP) business in Belle, West Virginia. The MAP manufacturing area is a High Hazard Process (HHP) facility which handles highly toxic materials (HTM). This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Manufacturing Technology (MT) function. This position will report to site’s Manufacturing Technology Manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides technical leadership to improve process safety, reliability, capability and productivity
  • Design solutions and lead multi-discipline programs to improve processes based on business input (yield, uptime, capacity release, cost performance)
  • Supports capital projects, including scope and basic data development, project oversight and equipment start up
  • Participates in Process Safety Management efforts for the site
  • Leads and/or participates in Process Hazards Analysis reviews
  • Leads programs to meet tactical and strategic business objectives
  • Identifies and works with Site MT personnel to implement best practices for processes
  • Provides technical oversight or leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex operational issues, including SHE and quality incident investigations
  • Develops and maintains the 5 year Technology Plan for MAP, and delivers results to meet it
  • Provides organizational leadership, including mentoring of junior MT team members
  • Network with peers and leverage knowledge from other functions and corporate groups
  • Assist in training the manufacturing line organization (operations and maintenance) to boost the organization’s knowledge and capability. In order to be qualified for this role you must possess the following:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years of equivalent experience in a chemical operations environment
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key Process Safety Management (PSM) Technology elements such as Process Hazards Analysis, Process Technology, Management of Change-Technology, RAGAGEP among others
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor develop others, and work in a team based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership, team building and achieving results through influence and negotiation
  • Well-developed technical writing skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must work well in both independently and in team environment
  • Ability to access and network with appropriate site and corporate teams to gain or share knowledge
  • Self-management skills with strong initiative and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill to diagnose and solve technical problems; ability to develop data-driven solutions
  • Provide leadership skills and able to listen to team members’ input to make recommendations aligned with production goals The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Experience with distillation column operation is preferred
  • Experience in the manufacturing of Methylamines or equivalent processes is preferred
  • Experience with highly toxic materials is preferred
