You’re the pit crew…the guys that change a tire on a race car while it’s going 100 miles per hour. The guys that remove the debate over what can be released and when. Are you a Site Reliability Engineer? If so, my client, a Fortune 50 company will be interested in speaking with you.   As the SRE new hire, you will join a world-class IT Development team tasked with using your development and operations skills to ensure that as the organization goes from release to release, the quality continues to improve.   Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Evaluates current processes and procedures and continuously develops and implements improved practices.
  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of their services.
  • Solve problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence; with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
  • Influence and create new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
  • Responsible for proper escalation, communications, management, and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues   Tech skills you’ll need:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell and Perl.
  • Experience working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, with experience working with system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols.
  • Proven ability to evaluate current processes and procedures and continuously develop and implement improved practices
  • Basic Networking: experience with network theory e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc., MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing.
  • Experience working with distributed systems
