Your Team

This role is part of the Procurement Engineering team for Business Group Philips Lighting Solutions (PLS) in North America (NA) and has a solid line reporting to the Procurement Engineering leader for PLS NA. Our Main responsivity is to drive cost optimization of Philips Lighting Solutions by evaluating BoM spend and supplier performance. The one things that truly makes us stand out from a traditional Procurement team in our Collaborative approach to have Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing working together as ONE big team over the entire life cycle of the product.

Your Responsibilities:

The main objectives of a Procurement Engineering Manager at a site is to drive the cost optimization of Philips Lighting Solutions’ Professional product portfolio, from cradle to grave, by launching cost competitive products that leverage best-in-class value engineering / design for excellence (DfX) processes, while at the same time improving the supply base responsiveness and reliability for current product portfolio. You will be the eyes and ears representing procurement on the shop floor as well as the onsite design center. You will translate the operations urgency into procurement actions and implement the Forward Procurement List for your site in relevant local systems. The Procurement Engineer Site is the linking pin between the site and the Commodity Teams (e.g. phase out / phase in). Furthermore you will support procurement of customization and engineering to order projects

Detailed responsibilities include

  • Procurement Link in factory, drives Annual Operating Plan(AOP) & savings, including both commercial and concept bill of material (BOM) savings
  • First point of escalation for site specific supply issues Lead procurement interface within the integrated product development process for Professional Office & Industry category
  • Seamless introduction of new products in factory with optimized cost, responsiveness, and quality
  • Development and implementation of actions from Value Engineering (VE) & Design for X (DfX) conventions in factory
  • Execution of procurement strategy, including management of phase-in/phase-out of suppliers
  • Integration of procurement contractual data in MRP (lead-time, price etc.)
  • Owner of procurement Key Performance Indicators ( KPI’s) on factory level (incl. GSRS) Key Performance Indicators

  • Flexibility Challenge:

As a Procurement Engineering Manager you will be challenged with leveraging your experience in Engineering design, as well as Procurement to address cost saving opportunities, without diminishing product safety and quality. You need to take an active role assisting our development team by providing them accurate cost estimates and by challenging them to further optimize the product and supply chain.

You will work closely with specific Philips business and new product development teams. You will be part of a larger international group of people with similar and related roles and part of the functional Procurement pillar within the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics Management or equivalent. MBA preferred or equivalent work experience acceptable.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant sourcing/procurement experience; experience in supply chain highly preferred, particularly background in design for supply chain (DFSC).
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in product lifecycle management, including gate-based product development processes
  • Past experience in DfX, cost drivers, TCO, complexity reduction, and cost optimization
  • Must be a high energy, positive attitude, and team player, with strong work ethic, “multi-tasking” skills; self-starter and a professional approach solving problems. Requires leadership skills necessary to influence and negotiate with Senior Management.
