Reviews plans and monitors status of implementation for those people assigned to effort; participates in site assessments. Estimates and coordinates resources needed (materials, budget, time and people) to accomplish assigned individual tasks. Participates in economic analysis and feasibility studies. Jointly responsible for achieving financial targets in support of business objectives. Supports the startup of new facilities in the development of their maintenance strategy. Major Responsibilities: Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Technical/Design: • Independently gathers maintenance and manufacturing performance data (Maximo, Zarpac, etc.), and performs preliminary analysis. Reports findings. Prepares and communicates recommendations and respective action plans to drive cost containment and cost reduction efforts. • Anticipates future directions. Benchmarks internally and externally. Assists with deployment of predictive and reliability centered maintenance strategies. Problem Solving/Innovation: • Provide a centralized, strategic look across equipment performance (downtime), material/component failure analysis, and changeovers. • Predicts patterns/trends. Grasps complexities and sees relationships among data; determines consequences and alternatives; makes recommendations; analyzes problems from multiple perspectives. • Improves maintenance processes. Recognizes and implements process improvements and cost reductions; creatively applies others’ ideas. • Facilitates root cause analysis for equipment downtime. • Develops and executes reliability studies and evaluations of equipment robustness.

Organizational Interface: • Mentors others by sharing information and providing feedback and guidance. • Prepares written communication. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents with team members, designers, technicians, and other technical personnel, both internal and external to Abbott, using appropriate communication protocols; obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans. • Establishes networks. Follows through on goals; contributes willingly and incorporates the ideas of others; shares resources, knowledge, and accountability to benefit the objectives of the business. • Builds relationships. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technical, Science, Business or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science or closely related discipline is desired or equivalent work related background experience within engineering, maintenance and/or operations Additional post-graduate education or Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or related experience is desired Background:Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.The skill set of this position requires a balance of industrial and mechanical engineering principles, data analysis, process improvement techniques, and problem-solving.

Possesses a working technical knowledge of maintenance programs. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Familiarity with “reliability centered maintenance’ is preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. • Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintenance, and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. • Listens to and understands others’ points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one’s own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations. • Works well with others in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment. • Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences. • Has a technical background in health care, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or similar industries (preferred).
