About Tesla

Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transportation. Our Model S is the world’s first premium sedan engineered as an electric vehicle from the ground up. Our world-class teams operate with a non-conventional automotive product development philosophy of highly inter-disciplinary collaboration, flat organizational structure, and strong technical contribution at all levels. We hire and develop top talent from across the world.

Role

At Tesla, rapid, data-driven innovation is a way of life and we’re not just optimizing CTRs, we’re optimizing miles per kWh and kWh per dollar. We rely on data – lots of data – to improve autopilot, to optimize the design of future platforms (e.g. Model 3), to proactively detect faults, and to optimize load on the electrical grid (Tesla Energy). Data is collected from each of our cars, superchargers and stationary batteries and used to make these fleets better and our customers safer.

We’re the small but fast growing team which owns the platform for fleet time-series data, and the core analysis that needs to be run on that data. Our stack is used by hundreds of engineers daily and supports a range of customer-facing data services. We’re looking for a highly skilled devops engineer to join us as a foundational member of the team and to provide leadership in all areas that relate to operations and reliability. You’ll be integrated within the data platform team and work directly with data engineers and data scientists to address the challenges we face now, and to prepare for the scale that Model 3 will bring.   Responsibilities

  • lead architectural changes that improve uptime and operational efficiency (e.g. containerization)
  • build tools that streamline development and deployment
  • develop monitoring and alerting, both technically and culturally
  • define capacity management and scaling strategies Requirements

  • have built and maintained highly-available distributed applications
  • have worked with diverse stacks, including both state-full and stateless services
