Responsibilities We’re looking for a Web Performance and Operations Engineer. You along with the rest of the team will be responsible for the quality, performance and reliability of our web and mobile presence, working with our IT teams, geography teams, and business teams. Your efforts will assure a high quality web and mobile experience for verizonwireless.com and Verizon.com visitors. * Lead projects to improve reliability and performance of our websites and the data feeds that supports them. Drive short-term and long-term improvements by leading cross-functional projects spanning people, process, and technology. * Review customer experience and proactively find opportunities by analyzing session activities, customer feedback etc using tools like Tealeaf, Opinion labs, Forsee etc. * Using performance monitoring applications and diagnostic tools like Dynatrace, Wily Introscope get to the root cause of performance issues and work with development teams to resolve them. Drive effective utilization of tools across teams. * Lead business management system to maintain performance standards, govern effective use of 3rd party tags, investigate issues, and review progress. * Report to executives on progress toward performance KPI’s, trends, projects. Create center of excellence for performance monitoring and improvements. * Lead preparations for high-traffic events, such as Black Friday/Cyber Monday to help assure site stability and quick problem resolution as needed. Qualifications * Experience in Web/IT development as well as performance engineering & performance testing experience * Well-versed in systems and procedures for web, including hosting, load-balancing, caching, content delivery networks, data validation, message queue management, AJAX * Strong insights in front-end-optimization, including browser timings, best practices for coding and tag management, how to optimize connection times, etc. * Experience using performance monitoring applications and diagnostic tools, including Synthetic and Real-user Monitoring, and page performance analysis (e.g. Dynatrace, TeaLeaf, Smartbear AlertSite, Site Catalyst, Wily Introscope etc.) * Able to lead complex technical discussions with bright developers and engineers, building consensus, and creating action plans * Familiarity with tools such as Fiddler, Firebug, YSlow and JProfiler * Experience collaborating with a global team, spanning time-zones and locations a plus * Experience with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana) are a plus Equal Employment Opportunity We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer – and celebrate our employees’ differences, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or Veteran status.
