The Maintenance Reliability Engineer provides critical maintenance engineering support to the Manufacturing organization by leading reliability activities and special engineering projects. The Reliability Engineer has hands on experience working with fixed & rotating equipment, including compressors, pumps, agitators, seal systems, and other plant related equipment. This position provides the primary reliability resource/support for sustaining and maintaining the daily operation of the plant, including direct support of the maintenance and operations group to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems. The position leads the development and support of processes to maintain compliance sound maintenance principles and practices. The incumbent often teams with and assists operations, maintenance management, and craftsmen to provide a system for improving maintenance reliability.Environmental Health and Safety Program Management: The Reliability Engineer is responsible for teaming and leading where necessary activities deliver optimal processes and operational protocols necessary to assure compliance with site Environmental, Health and Safety objectives.

Operations Reliability: Partners with production engineers, operators, and maintenance specialists to improve the Operational Uptime of plant equipment. Includes evaluation of existing equipment and processes for operational effectiveness.

Project and Situational Leadership: Leads and supports improvement projects. Identifies and drafts recommendations for predictive and preventative maintenance activities using sound engineering and maintenance principles.

Critical Parts Inventory Management: Leads the site’s objective of assuring critical spare parts are identified and strategies for critical spare part access are in place.

Predictive Maintenance: This position is responsible for management of predictive maintenance programs including vibration, lubrication analysis and thermography. Must have experience in “Lead Predictive Analysis”. Must have working knowledge of how to lead predictive analysis programs such as: Vibration, Oil, Thermographic etc. and specify the correcting actions from the interpreted results. Preventative Maintenance: Responsible for determining Preventative Maintenance (PM) requirements and developing PM frequencies for new equipment and evaluation of effectiveness of existing preventative maintenance actions.

Incident and Injury Investigations: Facilitate Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures and implements corrective actions.

Financial Responsibility: Must have a solid financial understanding given the budget and cost responsibilities delegated to this function.

Minimum of two to five years manufacturing experience in a chemical process safety management environment. Strong personal commitment to safety coupled with knowledge and training on OSHA Standards, Plant Standards, Corporate Standards, HAZOP and Fire Safety fundamentals. Experience and knowledge using investigation techniques including interviewing, TapRoot root cause analysis, and the Lean 5-Why methodology is preferred. Knowledge of the importance of chemical manufacturing maintenance systems and techniques as well as SAP, Microsoft Office Tools, and contemporary sound safety engineering/ maintenance practices such as Lock-out/Tag/Out, Confined Space Entry, Forklift Safety, Fire-Watch practices. Knowledge of chemical process manufacturing plant safety practices from both an operational and training aspect including practical application of methods, tools and Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to lead and coach others to enhance the performance effectiveness of day to day activities in a multifunctional organization. Ability to lead and coach in a positive and constructive way to conduct process equipment performance reviews. Can accept and use constructive feedback to influence and align others. Experience working with Unions within a union manufacturing environment. Strong values and integrity with strong team inclinations and training. SAP and a high degree of computer literacy. Effective track record working with and through others to achieve results. Able to work in a manufacturing environment in all types of weather, climb stairs, walk distances while wearing protective safety gear. Able to accumulate information with which to make sound decisions in upset conditions when information is difficult to find.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Preferred
