About You

First and foremost, you have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You have experience working on distributed enterprise software products as well as experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services consultant or sales engineer. You have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure, start-up environment. You are also an energetic self-starter who shows personal initiative. In addition, you have:

  • A./B.S. degree (required); M.S. degree or equivalent technical training or industry experience preferred in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Prior development background in J2EE or .Net stack is a strong plus
  • Experience with highly available solutions / architectures
  • Experience working in a structured change management processes for highly available Web facing environment
  • Availability for On-call after-hours support
  • Experience with complex SaaS or Production, revenue critical web services environments
  • Experience with setup, configuration (puppet, chef, ansible) and maintenance of DNS (Bind), LDAP, Postfix, Central Logging (syslog-Ng), SNMP and Monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios, Ganglia, Cacti) and other reporting tools
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux system administration especially in RedHat Linux (CentOS) environment
  • Strong experience in administering Web Servers, Application Servers and Databases running J2EE applications
  • Strong experience with environment configurations at network, OS and application levels
  • Strong experience with environment monitoring in a 24/7 web application and ecommerce environments
  • Strong experience with Shell and Python or Perl scripting
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Experience with automation tools like puppet or chef is a plus
  • Experience working with applications build using Java / J2EE and SQL is a plus About the Role

We are looking for a System Administrator to be the operations expert & point of contact for our large on premise customers running AppDynamics Servers in their environment. In addition to this, the System Administrator will be responsible to solve production issues in customer environments working with AppDynamics support and operations team. The System Administrator is expected to develop technical depth through hands on experience on the Operations of the AppDynamics product as well as the application stack and act as a solution architect to bridge the gap between engineering and customer issues. Build and maintain a long-term relationship with customers by understanding their business goals / pain areas and how our product aligns with it and helps solving those problems.

Design and develop solutions to deploy, maintain and integrate AppDynamics Servers in the customer environment. In addition, System Administrators proactively expand AppDynamics platform adoption and Operations standardization within accounts, driving relationships at every level internally and externally to advocate AppDynamics technology and influence change. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide project leadership for the customer’s major AppDynamics Operational initiatives
  • Ensure / Track full deployment of AppDynamics Servers in their environment
  • Design and develop innovative solutions to integrate AppDynamics in their environment and make it a part of their day – day operations
  • Develop tool kits / solutions for customers to operate AppDynamics Servers in their environment
  • Help customer’s setup monitoring through policies, alerts, dashboards and custom configuration to get full visibility into their AppDynamics hosted environment
  • Train customers on Operational best practices for managing AppDynamics Servers
  • Build deep technical expertise on the Operations of the product and the application stacks and use those skills to address customer issues as needed
  • Manage and drive competing requests across simultaneous client engagements
  • Provide clear and constructive product feedback to AppDynamics product management teams based on customer requirements
  • Help document best practices in operating, developing and deploying AppDynamics, in customer environments
  • Function as a front-line Operations resource for ‘best practice’ and informal customer questions for key accounts Perks
