Electrical Instrument and Control (EI&C) Engineer   Based at the new Dyno Nobel Amonia plant in Waggerman!   Responsible for the following:   To support the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Maintenance, Reliability, and Inspection Programs in a chemical manufacturing plant. Support and execute the programs to effect a reduction or elimination of identified operational risks within the process plant EIC related equipment and systems.  The EIC Maintenance Engineer will impact equipment safety and availability as well as plant asset care and reliability systems effectiveness, daily operations, overall plant safety, product quality and environmental and sustainability initiatives.   Reports to: Maintenance Manager   Role Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Turnaround EIC Support with Development, and Actions Plans for implementation.
  • EIC strategy implementation for the WALA facility within the SAP system; including Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Planning and technical scope development in support of the WALA reliability and maintenance.
  • Perform PCS program backups (PLCs, Servers, DCS..Etc.)
  • Implement Electrical Integrity program elements, and Functional Safety Proof testing. (Maintenance, and Operations E/I Support)
  • Support completion of monthly EIC Register Updates
  • Learn, use, and become proficient in all the Reliability programs, SAP, Documentum, ePrism, RMS, RCM Turbo, BEx, BEAMEX, Etc.
  • Provide technical oversight of inspections required to maintain compliance with the Risk Based Reliability and Mechanical Integrity Programs.
  • Support plant’s engineering documentation, consistent with the requirements of the IPL/Dyno EIC Guidelines, Management Plans, and Procedures.
  • Execute small to medium scale plant capital projects including scope development, estimate, economic justification, request for funding, construction package development and installation oversight when necessary.
  • Write Work Requests, Service and Consulting Contracts. Supervise and coordinate outside and   professional services.
  • Write material requisitions and purchase specifications, solicit and evaluate quotations, select materials and equipment.
  • Provide recommendations and troubleshooting for the resolution of EIC equipment problems.
  • Recommend plant improvements and alterations for improved performance and safety.
  • Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance.
  • Assistance with development, improvement and review of EIC maintenance\calibration procedures
  • Support facility EIC Root Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement programs.   Requirements:   Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Electrical (electrical and instrumentation)

Experience:

  • Thorough understanding of the key technical principles applying to the operations on the site.
  • Identification of key standards to be incorporated into the plant engineering systems.
  • Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Detailed understanding of the measures of effectiveness, and methodology for sharing and establishing on-going engineering best practice.
  • Detailed understanding of the regulations governing Process Safety Management (PSM) and the application to the site engineering systems and operations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.   • Generally work in an office environment. Long periods of computer and office machine use. Requires sitting, stooping and kneeling for filing, use of hands and fingers, ability to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. In the plant, subject to chemicals, products, temperatures and pressures associated with nitrogen fertilizer plants, and all outdoor weather conditions.
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment and follows all plant and OSHA safety rules.
