Plant NDT Level III Engineer
Role Summary/Purpose The Plant NDT Level III Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short * term and some long * term business goals. Essential Responsibilities As the Plant NDT Level III Engineer, you will: · Be responsible for surveillance of NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) personnel certification program · Train NDE Level 1 and 2 inspectors · Provide NDE technical support to the shop for various methods · Implement NDE techniques and planning on the shop floor · Perform site assessments and leadership in audits · Maintain processes needed to support next generation manufacturing processes · Work closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering organizations meeting all business commitments · Own all Manufacturing site NDT processes and procedures · Maintain Manufacturing site NDT certifications · Complete NDT Audits to ensure compliance and offer feedback for improvements · Research and implement new NDT processes and technologies · Support the Gage lab with calibration and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) compliance · Provide input to Manufacturing teams for new gages and inspections devices · Research and implement new Inspection techniques and technologies · Plan, direct, and coordinate all quality assurance functions for assigned product lines · Direct and coordinate the overall quality specifications and standards for materials, processes, and finished products to meet customer purchase order requirements · Support regulatory compliance and optimization of quality systems procedures relating to product complaint handling, adverse event reporting and product field actions through development, maintenance and improvement of documented processes · Develop and implement quality metrics to drive manufacturing improvements and business results · Plan and supervise studies aimed at improving product quality and reliability · Assist other departments as necessary in formulating new products, establishing standards for these products prior to initial production, or overcoming difficulties in the use of company products · Ensure a means of collecting and distributing compiled information in order to improve quality · Ensure safe practices are used in compliance with all governmental regulations · Identify, drive, mentor, and implement projects that improve overall production quality. · Work with Six Sigma Quality team to drive process changes · Conduct training to quality processes as needed · Responsible for the Quality of all in * house manufactured products · Drive Lean effort within manufacturing focusing on Quality Qualifications/Requirements · Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (OR a high school diploma / GED with 4 years of experience in an engineering or quality position) · Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics · Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering · ASNT Level 3 certification in various methods · Ability to drive change · Strong organizational, analytic, and problem * solving skills · Experience in implementing or executing NDT (Non * Destructive Test) processes, including X-Ray, MP, LP and UT · Ability to troubleshoot and correct NDT processes while maintaining product and process flow · Knowledge of Manufacturing QMS (Onboard Maintenance System) as it pertains to NDT and Metrology · Understanding of various measurement processes and control methodologies for Gas Turbine components · Ability to work in cross-functional teams in a matrix environment with all levels of personnel · Strong working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality operations · Demonstrated oral and written communication skills · Strong interpersonal and leadership skills · Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines · Ability to coach, manage, change and facilitate team performance · Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions · Green Belt or Black Belt certification or extensive quality experience (GE Employees Only)
