This mobile game live streaming platform/community is on a mission to connect the world’s billions of gamers.  They are backed by top VCs such as Kleiner Perkins, First Round Capital, and Lowercase Capital and have a stellar management team from such companies as Google, Amazon, Twitter and Apple.  They are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their core development team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and enhance their mobile software platform.   WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING – You will:

  • Develop for all aspects of the technology stack
  • Develop software and technology solutions, solve hard problems and answer to the technical needs of both the product and development teams
  • Continued evolution of automation systems both in-house and in production
  • Shared responsibilities for daily production health
  • Migrating from MongoDB to PostgreSQL
  • Building for the fragility of cloud and distributed services
  • Rolling out a socket based architecture for clients

Desired Skills and Experience

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • More than 4 years of experience in a system administration/software development role
  • Strong understanding of the application stack (HTTP protocol, load balancing, proxies, REST)
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Puppet/Chef
  • Knowledge of best practices in release management
  • Solid networking knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced scripting and/or OO experience (Javascript, Java, Scala, Python, Ruby, C++)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in systems administration with AWS, EC3, S3, RDS, CloudFront/CDNs
  • Expert with Linux, Ubuntu/Debian, VMs, BASH scripting
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing highly-scalable architecture
  • Masters/Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience

  • You treat site reliability as a software problem, and are not afraid to make software changes across the stack to ensure reliability NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with MongoDB
  • Experience with ffmpeg and video transcoding formats and systems
