Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies/reliability in facility equipment and process/product flow. Prepare preliminary design and cost estimates required to analyze cost to benefit. Complete Capital Approval Requests (CAR) justification in line with this. * Respond to operations & maintenance management requests to analyze equipment needs related to conceptual process, system efficiency and equipment improvements. * Prepare preliminary designs and cost-to-benefit assessment and then respond to appropriate manager(s) and project sponsor with detailed results. * Bid and award capital improvement engineering and construction contracts with a competitive approach, in conjunction with the sourcing group, and based on careful analysis of each bidder’s safety record, relative costs, and demonstrated ability to accomplish projects on time and within budget. * Implement construction and installation strategies that minimize interruption to the production plan. * Manage multiple capital projects using appropriate project management tools to ensure that cost and critical path goals are achieved. Ensure the timely receipt of materials and proper staging with effective leadership and coordination of company employees, vendors and contract personnel. * Ensure that engineering equipment installation, construction and all associated planning strategies are designed and coordinated to achieve company objectives , which include the maximum life cycle use of all site assets involved at the lowest reasonable cost. * Control and coordinate the allocation of equipment and other resources to be the most economical and efficient choice to meet operational and maintenance needs as well as company objective. * Update and/or create maintenance and operational instructions, engineering drawings, equipment records, O&M manuals and procedures. * Support the capital budget process & prepare projects schedules, detail project scopes, project budgets & CARs. * Perform engineering management of capital projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager. * Perform engineering construction management & system start-up of capital projects. * Learn the plant processes and mathematically define process flows and mass balance as a mechanical reliability engineer.   Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering 3-5 years working knowledge of standard operating procedures and predictive/preventive maintenance practices for piping systems, rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, pumps, fans, separators, other typical process equipment, utilities and electrical systems.• Strong written and verbal communication skills
