Imprivata is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer with 5+ years of networking, distributed systems and programming experience. You should have a desire and passion to contribute to building a world class cloud-based infrastructure. The services we provide are mission critical in the health care industry. For this reason, high availability and reliability are paramount.

The candidate would work as part of the development team with a particular focus on automation of the operational and monitoring aspects of the service. Candidate would also be an advocate of high quality code and developer-written automated testing. An ideal candidate would be a self-starter, team oriented and a strong communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, response time and efficiency of Imprivata s cloud services
  • Diagnose and solve problems related to service delivery
  • Influence and create new designs, architectures, and standards for large-scale distributed systems
  • Assist with capacity planning, performance analysis, and system tuning
  • Develop effective tooling, alerts, and changes to system internals, to identify problems Before they affect our customers, with the goal to make the system self-healing
  • Be a member of an on-call rotation group with the overall team goal to make the need to page anyone an incredibly rare event

Requirements

  • High level of proficiency with multiple programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Go
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and mechanisms for achieving resiliency
  • Passion for tests providing proof of system availability and correct behavior under fault
  • Preference for self-validating automation over manual operation
  • Knowledgeable of Linux administration, tuning, and security
  • Knowledgeable of core Internet protocols Desirable

  • Deep AWS experience and knowledge
  • Deep experience in JVM- and Linux-performance profiling and tuning
  • Cassandra or other distributed database systems
  • Caching infrastructure (Redis, Memcached, etc.)
  • Kafka, ZooKeeper
  • Scala, Akka
