Linux System Administrators (m/f)

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Support of scientific computing for international scientists with a scientific focus different from computing and informatics
  • Basic support (level 1) like categorizing of incoming user requests up to sophisticated support (level 3) like advice in compiling and debugging large scientific software suites or optimizing software for efficient usage on a HPC cluster
  • Individual training of users on efficient cluster usage
  • Installation, configuration, administration, and monitoring of complex server farms for high performance computing and storage
  • Integrate, configure, and administrate scientific software
  • Plan and execute changes according to SLAs
  • At least a master´s degree in a scientific field (bioinformatics preferred)
  • Several years of experience in Linux system administration
  • Excellent knowledge of Red Hat/CentOS Linux
  • Active knowledge in Linux-ActiveDirectory-integration, shell scripting, high-level programming and application building, hardware maintenance / firmware updates
  • Working experience in at least three of these technologies: Puppet, NFS Server, GPFS/Lustre, MPI, batch queuing system, Docker, Nagios, Kerberos
  • Fluid written and spoken English is a must (at least C1); German is a big plus
