Tygart Technology, Inc. is currently seeking a Security Engineer to support the Office of Information Technology at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Candidates must have hands-on experience implementing various security solutions based upon industry best practices, Federal guidance (e.g. NIST, FISMA, DISA), and product vendor recommendations.  This position requires that the candidate has, or can obtain, a Public Trust (Minimum Background Investigation – High Risk) security clearance.  All work is to be performed on the client site in Washington, DC. Responsibilities include:  

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Evaluating security requirements and control failures / gaps; identifying alternatives for remediation; planning, creating, tracking and executing against POAMs (including technical solution implementation).  Experience should be specific to infrastructure / General Support Systems (GSS)
  • Implementing new or enhance existing security products – coordinating with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams spanning security operations, network administration, server administration, account administration and continuous monitoring functions
  • Supporting annual security audits – responding to requests for information, providing analyses and evidence, and demonstrating how implemented solutions fulfill identified controls
  • Recommend, with technical justification, methods and products that support or enhance the overall enterprise IT security posture
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • More than five (5) years of work experience supporting a government organization, focused on implementation of Federal Security Guidance (e.g. NIST, FISMA, DISA)
  • More than eight (8) years of work as a security engineer supporting enterprise initiatives and/or General Support Systems (GSS) [i.e. infrastructure]
  • Demonstrated experience conducting security assessments for IT systems and operations
  • Experience conducting product evaluations, and implementing recommended solutions and processes to enhance enterprise security
  • Technical knowledge and experience supporting and securing IT systems in one or more of the following areas: configuration management, identity, credential, and access management (ICAM), security event analysis, continuous monitoring
  • Experience helping Government agencies ensure that its IT systems are compliant with Federal security regulations and meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to support senior government leaders and technical staff to identify and implement security improvements
  • Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills. 
  • CISSP certification
  • Technical background in one or more of the following: network engineering (including wireless), active directory administration, Windows server engineering, Linux server engineering, MS SQL database administration and/or engineering
  • Technical experience engineering and implementing one or more of the following security products:  IBM BigFix, Splunk, CyberArk, SailPoint
