Access to knowledge and data in this area will require a security clearance. Some travel is expected to meet with sponsors and support successful execution of programs.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, with an emphasis on cybersecurity and a least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Evidence of relevant research expertise in the form of technical publications, presentations, software, and/or knowledge of applications.
- Software development competence in at least one programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java) and one scripting language (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Bash).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted Q-level and SCI security clearance.In order to obtain these clearances, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Doctorate degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline with an emphasis on cybersecurity.
- Expertise in one or more of the following: Formal Methods (e.g., Symbolic Execution, Abstract Interpretation, Separation Logic, Model Checking, SMT Solvers), Binary Analysis (e.g., manual or automated reverse engineering of Windows internals, malware, vulnerability assessment), Dynamic Analysis (e.g., binary instrumentation, virtual machine introspection, writing custom fuzzers for complex programs).
- Demonstrated ability to team effectively in a collaborative research environment.
- Experience with assembly languages with a preference for x86 and x86-64.
- Software development experience with a functional language (e.g., OCaml, Haskell, etc.)
- Software engineering proficiency, particularly with respect to best practices and team development of high-quality code.
- Familiarity with system level development such as kernel programming or device driver development.
- Active DOE/DOD/SCI security clearance
