Linux Administrator (m/f) at Avira (Tettnang, Deutschland)
As member of our Infrastructure Service Team in Tettnang you will be responsible as Linux Administrator for our Cloud, Services and Infrastructure at different international locations.Besides your main mission - Keep the systems running! Keep the users happy! Keep improving the services! You will be involved into strategic planning and implementation of our global infrastructure. You are taking initiative to support your team by owning projects and consequent challenges by creating mutually supported solutions. For our Infrastructure team, we need you, a System Administrator that can help us bringing our applications to the next level, in regards of automation, cloud and high availability.
Starting from day one you will familiarize yourself with the infrastructure services within the “Cloud, Services & Infrastructure” department.Three months later, you have managed to get a full picture of your area of responsibility and you already successfully tackled projects as Linux Administrator on your own.In addition, within the first 6 months you will help your team, but also the other infrastructure services teams to get an even stronger footprint in the cloud services with the help of standards and procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Advanced Linux operating system knowledge (previous working experience with Ubuntu / Debian and Gentoo is a plus)
- 3-5 years working experience as a Linux System Administrator
- Proven work experience with Amazon Cloud Services
- Working experience with an automation language (ex. Salt, Puppet) and at least one scripting language beside bash (ex. python, perl)
- Working experience with cloud and virtualization platforms (Amazon AWS, VMware, XEN)
- An advanced understanding of security concepts
- An advanced knowledge of clustering concepts
- Previous working experience with High Availability web application is a plus
- An advanced knowledge in design, implement and maintain web application architecture, including several server layers for frontend, backend, caching, CDN, load balancing, etc.
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (ex. network redundancy, debugging at ethernet level)
- Working experience in certificate management and provisioning of them
- German and English language skills
- You are able to communicate complex issues between parties with different initial interests to develop common solutions
- Nice to have: Working experience with HP / Juniper network devices/ Experience to work with the Atlassian toolset (Confluence, Jira, HipChat) ITIL certification
