The Senior User Experience (UX) Design and Development Engineer joins other highly talented information technology staff as a leader in contributing to the Library’s goal of being a central and responsive partner in the research, teaching, and learning priorities of the University of Virginia. This position performs design and front-end development work on large-scale and complex web and software projects, contributing expertise in user interaction design, visual design, and web accessibility. The Senior UX Design and Development Engineer applies innovative approaches to conceiving and delivering impactful and pleasant user experiences across the Library’s web environment that maintain the Library’s brand standards. This position plays an important role in ensuring the short- and long-term stability, usability, and accessibility of UVA Library’s web presences and software products while meeting or exceeding user expectations based on research studies and data. In addition, the position works collaboratively with content owners, other web developers and designers, systems administrators, and user researchers to define and test requirements and implement solutions. In collaboration with management, the person in this position determines the overall technical approach to assigned projects.
