HPC System Specialist at EPFL - Blue Brain Project (Genève, Suisse)
The EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), situated on the Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland, applies advanced neuroinformatics, data analytics, high-performance computing and simulation-based approaches to the challenge of understanding the structure and function of the mammalian brain in health and disease. The BBP provides the community with regular releases of data, models and tools to accelerate neuroscience discovery and clinical translation through open science and global collaboration.
For our Computing section, we are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Desired Skills and Experience
- Configuration, installation and maintenance of HPC system stacks (operating system, network, software)
- Ownership and maintenance of HPC scheduling software (eg: Slurm) across heterogeneous clusters/environments
- Contribution to HPC user support
- Liaison with 3rd party support vendors
- Participation in the building and delivery of HPC infrastructure components and IT services
- Experience with operating and supporting large scale HPC clusters
- Experience with InfiniBand, Omnipath, 40/10GbE fabrics
- Experience working with core network infrastructure (Cisco Nexus/Catalyst)
- Experience in administrating, optimizing and troubleshooting parallel file systems (eg: GPFS)
- Track record of operating production services in a dynamic environment
- Experience with configuration management tools (eg: puppet, ansible)
- Exposure to cloud computing infrastructure
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Perl, shell)
- Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or similar
- Experience working in a collaborative and multi-cultural environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
- Fast learner, eager to expand his/her domains of expertise
- Proven ability to work both independently and in team-based environments
- Fluent communication in English (written and spoken)
