Purpose of Position
Responsible for the administration, support and development of McArthurGlen’s SQL databases, data transfer/ETL, Data Warehouse and BOARD databases.

- Responsible for the daily administration and support of McArthurGlen’s SQL Servers. Including backup, monitoring and performance tuning
- Monitor and administer the businesses daily data transfer processes integrating and moving data between SQL Server, BOARD (McArthurGlen’s Business Intelligence platform) and Third Party suppliers
- Development and performance tuning of new data transfer processes using SSIS and T-SQL
- Recommend and develop monitoring and notification procedures to support database and data transfer performance and administration
- Support the Business Intelligence Manager ensuring the business has the highest levels of data integrity and data accuracy possible
- Promote and provide training on data management and data auditing across all levels of the business
- Identify process improvements within the business that will help further improve data accuracy
- Provide ad-hoc analytics and data extracts to support business users when required
- Identify gaps and potential risks in the current reporting and data architecture and recommend potential solutions
- Manage 3rd party external support partners
- Development of the business data models in BOARD and SQL Server to support key IT projects
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support though McArthurGlen’s IT Service Desk of data related issues and requests
- Liaise with key stakeholders at all levels of the business to determine and document data and data model requirements
- Work with the Systems Administration team to continually ensure all production and development hosting platforms are properly resourced and fit for purpose
- Proven understanding of developing and administering data models for BI and analytics
- Experience working with SQL Server and Data Visualisation tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Team player with a ‘hands on’ approach
- Ability to communicate and interface with all levels of the business
- A relevant degree
