Brimar is searching for talented and motivated developers to join our growing, in-house development team.  Successful candidates will work with both frontend and backend developers in an agile environment to create a best-in-class ecommerce platform.  You will be bridging the gap between the visual elements and the server-side infrastructure, taking an active role on both sides, and engineering the application’s functionality.  You will be applying industry best practices to expand and perfect our MVC platform, while ensuring our application can handle the growing demand due to the continued success of the business.

This is a full-time, salaried position in Garfield, NJ.

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using software development best practices
  • Design and write code with a keen eye towards performance, scalability, and security
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical and business needs
  • Work independently and be responsible for making technical decisions
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
  • Update and improve legacy applications
  • Perform code reviews and recommend improvements to other developers
  • Create and maintain database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Participate in daily SCRUM meetings
  • Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
  • Expert understanding of OOP and multiple software design patterns
  • Expert understanding of the LAMP stack
  • Strong understanding of Git and branching/deployment strategies
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, including schema design, indexes, and triggers
  • Familiarity with Redis, Memcached, or similar in-memory databases
  • Experience with Amazon AWS
  • Experience designing and maintaining a scalable web infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of Apache, vHosts, and Webmin/Virtualmin
  • Experience using Gulp or similar build scripts
  • Experience with Bash, Perl, or similar scripting languages
