Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a candidate for the role of Software Technical Leadership on one of the most exciting projects in Australia in Autonomous systems: Advanced Autonomy.
Your responsibility as Software Technical Lead Engineer will be to provide technical and quality leadership to a small, but growing group of software engineers who are actively developing and testing services which range from image processing, wireless communications networking, and autonomous decision making. You will work alongside a Project Manager, a Hardware Technical Lead / Lead Systems Engineer, and a System Architect to develop automated and autonomous capabilities for The Boeing Company.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in software requirements analysis and specification, functional analysis, software design & development, software integration & test is required.
- Experience in provision of technical leadership to teams for commercial and/or defence software application development is required.
- Experience in developing, documenting, and reviewing software and use interface designs is required.
- Strong software development skills in C++ is required, while experience in other languages including C, C#, Python are also highly desirable.
- Significant experience using both Linux and Windows operating systems is required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change, formulate technical plans, technology roadmaps, and decompose high level guidance into value-added prototyping requirements and capabilities is required.
- Ability to communicate complex software concepts in both written and verbal formats to management as well as the technical team is required.
- Ability to oversee, monitor and implement systems and processes for ensuring quality and configuration management which are to be integrated into all prototypes and products, and ensuring that documentation is of relevant standard for prototype capability is required.
- Experience in planning and participating in software development cycles using Agile methods and processes is required.
- Experience working with development for embedded systems is highly desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience in imagery analysis, video analysis, mathematical optimisation, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Computer Vision and/or prescriptive data analytics is highly desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience in autonomous decision making with varying degrees of uncertainty is highly desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience working with different sensor technologies including electro-optical, infrared, photogrammetry, and LiDAR is highly desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience in implementing and controlling wireless communications networks for both commercial and/or defence applications, such as: Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G telecommunication, Link 16, satellite communications (e.g. Iridium, Inmarsat) is highly desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience with safety and certification requirements for aviation software development is desirable.
- Skills, domain knowledge, or experience with geospatial systems, standards and data formats is desirable.
- Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering and/or Computer Science.
