This is a great time to join us in Technology at Virgin Atlantic as we embark on a number of exciting projects and our newly formed Technology Centre of Excellence.
Working as part of the Technology Centre of Excellence Leadership Team, you’ll be accountable for all Infrastructure related projects and complex activities for Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Holidays, and the successful delivery of projects/programmes on time, to budget and to the required standard. You’ll provide guidance and ensure that the project portfolio lifecycle process is adhered to from ideation, through prioritisation, project execution and closure. The role will also be accountable for delivery of programmes and/or large projects as required and will play a key part in defining the future project Technology portfolio for infrastructure related projects.
Day to day
Maintain a strategic view over a set of projects, providing the framework for implementing infrastructure technology initiatives in order to achieve successful delivery and business outcomes, ensure benefit realisation plans are in place.
Identify, plan and coordinate a set of related projects within a portfolio of technology infrastructure change, and manage their interdependencies in support of specific technology strategies.
Ensure projects have detailed plans and milestones and that progress against plan is effectively tracked, delivered and recorded. Where deviance from the plan occurs then this is dealt with swiftly and effectively, risks and issues identified and mitigation plans put in place.
Accountable for overall long term resource and delivery plans for assigned projects/programmes within the portfolio.
Adhere to best practice and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are identified and adopted and drive efficiencies and effectiveness.
Ensure projects/programmes have defined enough of the solution detail at key stages to substantiate their plans for the next stage in order that milestones are robust and achievable.
Ensure a structure for programmes is created to deliver against a clear scope and deliverables to meet the company’s strategic goals.
Assist in the running of the Technology Portfolio Review Group, working closely with the Technology Leadership Team prioritising projects, escalating blocking project issues, and reporting on resource capacity vs demand planning.
Manage and lead a team of Technical Project Managers and Business Analysts to ensure project delivery according to agreed time, cost and quality requirements within the bounds of the iterative project management methodology.
Plan and coordinate the resources necessary for the successful delivery of projects, balancing a team of Project Managers, Business Analysts and any other assigned technical resource.
Coach Project Managers and Business Analysts across the business in best practice and have clear development and progression plans in place for the immediate team.
