In 2005 KCOM was one of the UK’s premier Telecommunications providers and Smart421 was a disruptive consultancy, evangelising the use of Cloud Computing and all things Automation… Fast forward to 2006 and KCOM saw the value that Smart421 were providing to clients and realising that Cloud was the way forward, so they decided to buy them.

In a grade II listed, contemporary Mansion in Wakefield, KCOM hosts teams of engineers who are dedicated to great cloud engineering. It is a centre of excellence for agile practices and a hub for DevOps culture and processes.

As advocates of continuous integration, automation, version control and cloud based solutions, Our DevOps Engineers are essential in promoting the DevOps way of working and thinking… simply put, they build solutions as if they are going to be the one supporting them! This ensures we produce robust solutions consistently.

What you’ll do and why you’ll be successful

Our DevOps Engineers work closely with a talented team of Cloud Architects, SysOps Engineers and Test Analysts. They have solid scripting experience, coupled with knowledge of automation and systems administration skills, as this role is key in managing and supporting our AWS/Azure estates and related services.

As an Amazon Premier Consulting Partner, we work hard to ensure our staff are experts in AWS and we’ll get you certified to prove it!!

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Scripting of deployment and management processes for both infrastructure and application components
  • Server, application and network configuration and administration
  • Contribution to and enforcement of technical standards and best practices
  • Technical investigation and problem resolution for AWS solutions
  • A Linux or Microsoft environment
  • Puppet, Chef or Ansible
  • Linux command shell or Powershell
  • AWS or Azure
  • Holiday 25 days per year (option to buy additional holiday days).
