The Comcast Technology Solutions’ Content Processing Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for a Product Support Engineer with experience in the media space to work with Engineering, Software Development, Product Support, QA, and internal customers on technical solutions to operational and support challenges. Responsible for troubleshooting operational issues, improving monitoring capabilities, writing technical support guides, providing technical solutions to operationalproblems, modifying existing products andservices, and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technicalrequirements, standards, policies, and procedures. Works with moderateguidance in own area of knowledge.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair all but the most complex issues.Performs maintenance activities with a minimum of supervision andguidance. Leads technical outage bridges and engages appropriateresources to drive issues to closure.

  • Acts as an advocate for Engineering Operations procedures, policies, and processes. Ensures projects and initiatives are adhering to Companystandards.

  • Tracks and reports operational workflows; maintains records of resultsand feedback. Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas, andprovides actionable insight.

  • Acts as a technical resource in projects and initiatives and ensuressuccessful project implementation.

  • Analyses problems in design, configuration, data flow, and data statewithin a highly complex multi-product video management system.

  • Performs routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineeringand ensures all maintenance is properly validated to minimize impact.

  • Ability to add and update monitoring on system components including adding and updating system dashboards and alerts.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in mattersof significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to worknights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary including on-call.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 10% of the time primarily between Denver, CO and Seattle, WA.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the media space and especially with complicated systems solving for content processing and delivery workflows.

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence or other similar team collaboration software.

  • Linux and/or Windows system administration capabilities.

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Groovy is a real plus). Experience with programming (in any language) and programming concepts is a plus.

  • Knowledge of one of more system monitoring technologies (e.g. Sensu, Graphite, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, Zenoss).

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely especially as it relates to support documentation, but also in terms of status to stakeholders.

  • Basic knowledge of video formats and codecs is a plus.

  • Team player.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in a technical field preferably Computer Science or Engineering.

  • Generally requires 2-5 years related experience

Comcast Technology Solutions’ Content Processing Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the video content processing infrastructure for Video-On-Demand (VOD) and Ad content delivering both traditionally (set-top-boxes and linear TV channels) and over-the-top (OTT) devices comprising ingest, video transcoding, video quality checks, short and long term storage of assets, delivery, and Just-in-Time-Packaging (JiTP). The infrastructure is across three different data centers, requires reliability of 99.99%, and services 10s of millions of end-users.
