As a full-time member of the Mecum Information Technology team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Mecum employees are able to use the technology and applications needed to do their jobs. This challenging position will require adaptability and quick thinking to solve problems both at our home office and at our auctions held throughout the United States.

Successful applicants will have excellent technical skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with users with varying technology skill levels and needs and be able to operate in a dynamic and time-sensitive environment. You must strong motivation to learn new systems and to strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of the job.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Network installation and Troubleshooting
  • Management of physical network components including cabling
  • Setup, Configuration and management of network switches, routers, wireless access points and other networking hardware
  • Computer hardware troubleshooting, service and repair
  • Support of Microsoft software applications and services including Server OS, Workstation OS, Active Directory and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Support of virtualization software and systems (VMWare, Hyper-V and Xen)
  • Basic knowledge of Mac OSX and Apple hardware
  • Basic knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)
  • 2 or 4 year degree in IT or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting business users
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization and ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to work with a range of systems users with varying skills and business needs
