We are looking for a Director of DevOps to architect our infrastructure so we can build, rebuild, configure and scale in real time. This is a hands-on position, which will transform the way we configure, deploy and scale our servers and applications. The Director of DevOps will work with the DevOps team to design and implement continuous integration, deployment automation and release management strategies for our multi-tiered environment to automate repetitive manual tasks so we can focus on innovation. Desired Skills and Experience

  • Design and develop complete end to end automation environment using configuration/autoscaling tools, this is a partial hands-on and partial management role.
  • Lead architecture, monitoring, performance optimization and capacity planning of new infrastructure services to support a high-performance open-source computing environment.
  • Work closely with our Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and other clients and partners of the DevOps team to meet the needs of the organization to stay competitive - from the infrastructure up to the highest level of applications.
  • Lead development of cloud strategies, cloud infrastructure and automation to support high-volume mission critical services and ensure 99.9% uptime.
  • Strategize with senior tech leaders and c-level executives to develop new technology initiatives with primary focus on availability, supportability, scalability, security and performance.
  • Maintain security and controlling permissions, keeping up with PCI compliance changes.
  • Configure and tune an enterprise monitoring and instrumentation system(s) to efficiently detect existing issues and predict future issues based on trends.
  • Manage and mentor DevOps team, providing best practices and guidance on all projects.
  • Own Tier 1 support with rapid responses, trouble-shooting, and triaging of production issues.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading systems administration/engineer and/or DevOps engineers.
  • 5+ years of hands on experience as an individual contributor in a systems administration/engineer or DevOps role working on highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Operating Systems – Experience supporting mission-critical platforms, both physical and virtualized environments, using CentOS and AWS Linux distributions.
  • Expert knowledge of Cloud Computing Architectures, Networking Topologies and Clustering techniques.
  • Experience using AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, Cloudwatch, S3, CloudFront, Route53 and Elasticache under production workloads.
  • Nice to have experience managing Serverless infrastructures using AWS CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, etc.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills – Command of Bash and Python languages.
  • Autoscaling/Configuration Management – Chef, Puppet, or similar tool.
  • Hosted Infrastructure - Experience building out a reliable website architecture in AWS.
  • Web Servers – Advanced experience with Nginx.
  • Data Platforms – MySql and NoSQL databases.
  • Organization/Ticketing Systems – JIRA, Redmine or similar tool.
