- Under general direction, this position is responsible for all activities related to system administration.
- Monitor emerging technology developments and identify innovations with significant potential advancements of information technology systems to keep them in alignment with business needs.
- Make recommendations for new/altered technologies that contribute to cost and/or productivity improvements to the information system.
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computing hardware and software in compliance with standards.
- Establish system management criteria in line with configuration management controls and other best practices.
- Responsible for the uptime and operation of internal systems and services in addition to external client facing web application servers.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades and must be able to design and plan for the growth of the infrastructure environment.
- Support the activities of the IT Team as an active and as a mentor to provide on-the-job training to fellow systems administrators, should always act as a positive role model and supportive team member.
- Complete projects on agreed to time lines and within pre-defined budgetary constraints.
- Administration of Windows/Linux based servers and associated software applications.
- 2nd and 3rd tier support for all Help Desk escalated support issues.
- Coordinate the development and execution of all critical IT Services functions.
- Provide reporting data and feedback to the IT leadership team on the status of information technology systems and management issues.
- Coordinate with other IT teams and members of other business units to address emerging or existent problems and bring them to a solution in alignment with business needs or goals.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Information Technology.
- 5-7+ yearsâ experience in a Systems Administrator role in a high availability production environment.
- Must exhibit excellent problem solving skills and be able to quickly diagnose system problems and implement solutions to restore functionality.
- Must have an excellent working knowledge of and experience with server assembly, configuration, and operation, including peripherals such as printers, disk controllers, RAID arrays, RAM expansion, Fiber and network cards.
- Must have experience and proficiency in Fiber Channel and ISCSI Storage Area Networks, and Switches. Experience with Dell Hardware, Cisco UCS Servers Compellent, Equalogic, is a plus.
- Must have competency with administration of Windows Servers 2008-2016, Linux (Redhat and Centos) SAN storage arrays, Microsoft Cluster Services, Active Directory, SQL, DHCP, DNS, Exchange 2010 and Office 365, IIS, VMware and MS System Center Suite. Experience with Nagios monitoring, configuration, and automation scripting skills (PowerShell and bash) is required.
- Must be able to create high quality detailed project plans and associated project documentation, also create and maintain other documentation with the ability to capture details and write to an audience.
- Follow company Change Management process for all changes to production systems, including documenting all changes made to systems.
- Ability and willingness to work irregular hours as required to maintain the infrastructure and hosted services without interrupting core business operations or functionality, including scheduled weekend maintenance windows.
- Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
- Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision, with a proven ability to prioritize and multitask with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver quality results on time.
- Reviewing data and/or images on a P/C Monitor, Laptop or tablet for extended periods.
- Sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform lifting, moving and carrying. This is defined, for example, as regularly exerting force sufficient to lift & maneuver up to 35 to 40lbs such as boxes of paper.
- Able to use hands tools such as screw drivers, to adjust or install equipment.
- Be able to fly on airplanes on occasion if needed.
- The employee must have a great driving record and must have the ability to see including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. Often this position may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day or at night. The employee must not have any limitations that would reduce their ability to drive a vehicle safely for company business.
- Ability to carry briefcase and luggage up to 50# and load in vehicle.
- Able to work on a lap top or work station for extended periods of time
- Able to talk on telephone with other employees for troubleshooting needs.
- Able to climb and descend stairs
- Able to access shuttle buses or similar modes of transportation
