Desired Skills and Experience
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, another science or equivalent experience
- Mastery of one or more scripting languages for automating common tasks in a UNIX environment (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python)
- Prior experience administering and supporting servers and applications in AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
- 3+ years experience with relational databases
- Experience in a project / program / product management capacity
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
- Good team player, but able to work effectively independently
- Service an interrupt-driven system
- Familiarity with Atlassian solutions
- Experience with NoSQL
- Lab and LIMS experience
- 5+ years experience with Python and web programming frameworks (eg. Django, Flask, ORM)
- 3+ years experience with DevOps or related fields (eg. Docker, Fabric, version control)
- 1+ years experience with Javascript and well established MV* frameworks (eg. React, Backbone, etc)
- Develop site monitoring and alerting
- Report performance of operations
- Communicate with Users, Computing, and Development teams in the event of an incident
- Participate in balanced on-call rotation
- Troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively
- Facilitate root cause investigations
- Recognize automation opportunities
- Develop troubleshooting playbooks when necessary
- Develop tools to enable prevention, detection, and mitigation
