Desired Skills and Experience
- Ensure availability and performance of the databases that support the system by having configured database mirroring and log shipping in a production environment.
- Set up basic monitoring for production outages, plus problems with mirroring and log shipping.
- Test restores of encrypted databases.
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
- Work to ensure that the necessary resources are allocated to the server(s), cluster(s), and database(s) and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
- Provide trend analysis on performance of database servers.
- Responsible for working with application owners to tune databases to best practices to optimize performance.
- Documentation of processes and procedures.
- At least 5 years of DBA experience
- Deep knowledge of MS SQL 2012/2016
- Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication, troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues.
- Familiar with Azure services (PaaS) is a plus
