  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, and database concepts, infrastructure and desk top technologies required to provide business solutions across the enterprise.
  • Ability to develop complex technical and/or functional designs that lead to the development of software and hardware solutions that meet the business needs of PGE.
  • Management of vendor relationships and tracking of vendor software enhancements as requested.
  • Participate in design and code reviews as well as project status reviews as requested.
  • If serving in an application development team, assist your manager and supervisor to manage all facets of the Software Development Life Cycle and assure that the formal development standards in place for your team are followed.
  • Identify opportunities for process or system improvements and develop an appropriate action plan.
  • The S/A may be assigned to the PMO as a key member of a project team assigned to design and develop software solutions for a PGE business unit or Corporate department.
  • Typically a Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience in related discipline.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated formal presentation skills are a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast moving IT team environment.
  • 1-5 years Java or C# .NET, C++ programming experience required.
  • 1-5 years Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft SQL Server development experience required.
  • 1-5 years HTML, XML, JSP, Jython, Python and REST/SOAP-based web services experience preferred.
  • 1-5 years Microsoft Windows and UNIX/LINUX server environment administration preferred.
  • Research, documentation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills rapidly.
  • PGE is a regional provider of electric power. S/As may be required to travel within the PGE service area and to its generation facilities. Occasional overnight stays may be required. Expected travel would be no more than 10% of work time.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
