Desired Skills and Experience
- Administration of Linux and Windows systems, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation.
- Running and maintaining Xyleme production infrastructure hosted on AWS - planning, deploying, configuring, securing, documenting, and maintaining services
- AWS experience with: CloudFormation, IAM, OpsWorks, ElastiCache, Lambda, CloudWatch
- Analysis of complex system behavior, performance and application issues
- Development of monitoring solutions and analysis across multiple datacenters
- Quickly resolving problems reported by users or monitoring systems
- AWS: capacity analysis and planning, traffic routing and security policies
- Developing, maintaining and administration of cutting-edge infrastructure deployment tools
- Training users on the proper use of hardware and software when necessary
- Handling system down problems (24/7 on-call with a rotation schedule)
- Other duties as assigned
- Five or more years of recent Linux/UNIX systems administration
- Three or more years Amazon Web Services (AWS) administration
- Solid scripting / automation skills (Python/Ruby/Bash/Go/etc.)
- Solid experience with server configuration via AWS OpsWorks, Ansible and Chef
- Experience using software deployment in a team environment (merge requests, branching, push and pulls): Bamboo, BitCucket and Git
- IP networking, including familiarity with the functionality, operating, and failure modes of networks.
- Database administration experience – relational/NoSQL (MySQL, MongoDB, Apache Solr, etc.)
- Experience with high availability architectures, and a critical production service environment
- Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
- Current certification in Linux Administration (LPIC-2 equivalent or higher)
- Solid understanding of IT/data security
- Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot any kind of computer problem
- Well organized, reliable, with strong attention to detail
