Desired Skills and Experience
- Assist with expanding size and functionality of compute and storage;
- Assist internal and external users with utilizing compute and storage facilities;
- Expand automation for systems expansion, management, and environment creation;
- Assist building IaaS (compute and storage);
- Install, configure and debug scientific software tools;
- Responsibility for ensuring 24/7 functionality of compute and storage;
- Provide technical expertise and guidance as a subject matter expert;
- Act as technical lead on projects introducing new functionality and evaluating new technologies;
- Create written documentation for other admins and users;
- Work closely with scientific staff to ensure that the system is both usable and useful.
- At least 7 years’ experience in Unix / Linux system administration;
- Strong Unix / Linux scripting skills for data movement and process automation;
- Strong experience with automation tools such as Puppet and bash or Python scripting;
- Experience with virtualized environments and infrastructure;
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, start-up like environment;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
