Desired Skills and Experience
- Administrate servers running Linux Ubuntu / Debian in a production environment.
- Perform OS installs, setup, configuration, security lockdowns and ongoing maintenance of existing infrastructure as well as new servers.
- Prepare for (and eventually implement/supervise) moving our infrastructure to AWS.
- Maintain and extends our VPN setups.
- Propose/recommend new technologies and implement into the existing environment.
- Perform daily duties related to system health monitoring and system integrity assurance.
- Provide periodic reports to managers of systems status.
- Provide action plan for resolution of any/all faults detected.
- 2+ years experience on Linux administration.
- Experience with backup and restore operations to preserve and recover data as required.
- Knowledge and experience with shell scripting (ksh, bourne, bash, csh, etc).
- Ability to document, develop, and implement test plans to verify installation, upgrades, or repairs, including backout plans.
- (At least some) Experience with Amazon AWS.
- Good problem determination and resolution skills.
- Must be a team player with good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is a must.
- Previous experience with PHP and JAVA
- Experience with Mysql / Percona XtraDB clusters
- Experience with Cassandra / RabbitMQ / Couchbase clusters
- Experience with HAProxy (and squid to a lesser degree)
- Experience with continuous delivery, configuration management
- Experience with Docker.
