Desired Skills and Experience

  • Collaborate with bioinformatics scientists, systems administrators, software engineers, users, and stakeholders to define requirements and specifications for data analysis workflows, accessing and managing scientific data, and data presentation;
  • Perform data migrations between internal systems, as well as to external sites;
  • Work with internal and external users to suggest and define data locations and organization;
  • Monitor and report data usage;
  • Track and report on the status of large data transfers;
  • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality;
  • Analyze performance and recommend storage solutions by running weekly usage reports;
  • Help troubleshoot any existing issues by investigating data flows;
  • Automate processes;
  • Improve documentation of changing data practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience;
  • 3 Years Linux experience;
  • Python and bash scripting experience;
  • Ability to work with colleagues of various backgrounds (e.g. software engineering, project management, computational biologists, IT);
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work directly with users to understand their needs and translate those into action plans and system improvements;
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, start-up like environment.
