Desired Skills and Experience
- Provide input on standard cost-effective solutions for Miles’ client needs based on Miles’ current processes and hosting infrastructure
- Develops and maintains chef scripts and chef configuration to ensure operational reliability
- Establishes, maintains and manages users Unix accounts
- Maintain and evolve security procedures and protect systems from unauthorized use and user abuse
- Maintain procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications
- Provide in-depth technical knowledge to superiors and other team members as needed
- Bachelor degree in management information systems or equivalent
- 2+ recent years of experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support
- Proficient in usage and configuration of chef, Linux, Unix, Red Hat Enterprise, MySQL, Apache, Memcache, PHP and Varnish
- Familiar with configuration of hardware firewalls and load balancers
- Proficient with the git version control system
- Drupal knowledge beneficial but not critical
- Familiarity with the Nagios monitoring tool
- Demonstrates aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills
- Able to manage own workflow while coordinating with project teams and management on schedules, requirements, goals, and assignments as needed
- Willing to take direction if and when needed, but also work independently
- Able to respond positively to customer and peer criticism and feedback
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Able to effectively manage relationships, both internally and externally
