Desired Skills and Experience
- Implements the system and processes that Cloud Engineers use to deploy their software into production.
- Participates in rotating on-call duties and Disaster Recovery Tests.
- Documents and demonstrates solutions to disseminate knowledge among the SRE team and throughout the engineering organization
- Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art tools and techniques; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Proficiency with UNIX tools like SSH, grep, sed, awk, find, etc.
- A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, SMTP, HTTP)
- Ability to script in a shell language (Bash or POSIX Shell) and in an interpreted language (Ruby, Python, etc.)
- Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.)
- Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
- Strong grasp of automation tools (Jenkins, Travis-CI, etc.)
- Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
